Our rules and guidelines

In order to maintain some semblance of order on TTWL, there are a few rules to follow. We are fairly relaxed as this is a character-driven roleplay forum, so we rely on you to be an adult and deal with things accordingly.

We don’t do OOC accounts on TTWL, you register with your characters first and last name. Do not include anything other than firstname lastname as we will decline and remove you if you include anything other than that.

Your name should be unique unless you’re creating someone affiliated with another character, such as filling a request or applying as a founding family member. Do not use the same first name or last name as any other created character.

Your character is not allowed to take a surname/last name associated with one of the founding families or any last name adjacent with it unless they are a member of that family. This means you cannot create a character with the last name Wolf or Bird for example, as they would infringe on the families Wolfe and Byrd.

The names of founding family members have been selected carefully. For this reason, we do not accept characters with the same first or last names as any founding family member. Characters submitted with matching names will not be accepted and must be renamed.

Characters need to be over 21 years old. This is, for some reason, the age America considers you an actual adult.

All face claims need to be above the age of 18. We prefer if they are over the age of 21 as well.

We only accept face claims of actual human beings. No drawn or fictional face claims.

Face claims should be public personas. We don’t have a specific follower count necessary for a valid face claim, but if you are unsure, please check with an admin. Overall, models, influencers, streamers, youtubers and mainstream celebrities are okay.

AI generated pictures are not allowed and characters and users who use them will be banned. This includes AI generated images of your characters supernatural archetype as well.

TTWL is a Jcink Premium site, which means we allow mature content. We encourage everyone to use the Notice/Trigger warning template to be clear what the thread or content contains.

Our banned topics list is very simple and is applied to threads and profile and these are Pedophilia and bestiality.

While we don’t ban topics of rape in character profiles, we — admins — would appreciate knowing why it is necessary before including it in your profile.

Overall, we’re okay with most topics, but be mindful and tag it correctly.

It goes without saying that we treat each other with respect and kindness. Whether it is on-site or the Discord.

Any harassment or bullying will not be tolerated. Please contact an Admin if you feel like this is happening. Treat each other with respect.

It goes without saying that we are an inclusive site. We are intolerant of the intolerant. Respect each other’s pronouns. We welcome everyone regardless of sexuality, pronouns, skin color or creed. We do not tolerate bigotry, discrimination, or ideology that undermines the safety of others.

Read through our lore and bestiary to find a suitable archetype that suits your character. Each archetype is sorted with a complexity tag, these range from “Basic”, “Moderate”, or “Advanced”. These are not associated with writing or experience level, instead they indicate how many systems or lore you need to keep track of with each archetype.

Some archetypes are easier (or harder) to write with typical power play or godmoding (taking control of another player’s character) in mind, but please refrain this unless you know your writing partner would be okay with it. We don’t allow for this overall, but rather on a context basis.

We, of course, discourage anyone from creating Mary Sues. We encourage anyone to lean into character flaws and issues as much as they can as TTWL is a prime source for complicated and messy characters.

Overall, we are pretty relaxed with activity. We realize that everyone have a life outside of RP and that always get highest priority.

Regardless, we would like to see you at least write a post once a month with each of your characters, so that they don’t idle unnecessarily. If something comes up that prevents you from fulfilling this, please post in our #mia channel or contact an admin. If it becomes frequent enough, we’ll ask you to trim characters and/or commitment.

We don’t have a character limit. We trust you to know how many characters you can write and maintain. Abuse this, and we will inactivate characters that aren’t active enough.

We also encourage you to maintain how many threads you can keep alive at once. Respect other people’s time and don’t over commit. It’s better to be honest and say no than to say yes to a thread to be nice, only to realize you don’t have bandwidth for it.
