Common Pike Creek establishment

There are plenty of different establishments in Pike Creek, but there are a few that are historical and famous. These are common gathering spots for the citizens and where gossip and rumors easily spread.

We encourage you to have your character work at one of these locations if it makes sense for them. You’re also welcome to create additional popular establishments beyond what’s listed here. If you’d like to do so, please reach out to staff so it can be reviewed and added, provided it fits the worldbuilding.

The Market Grand is the largest and most well-known hotel in Pike Creek. Located in the Market District, right by the town square, it is the most central option for visitors. Anyone who doesn’t fancy the motel up the road will usually find themselves staying at the Market Grand.

Pike Creek doesn’t see a huge influx of visitors, so the hotel isn’t massive, but it’s perfectly serviceable. Locals still frequent the hotel for drinks, the continental breakfast, or the occasional dinner. It’s not flashy, but at least the scrambled eggs aren’t made from powder.

The Creekside Motor Inn is located a couple of miles outside of town and serves, together with Creek Junction Fuel & Mart, as the last stop of civilization before leaving Pike Creek.

The motel offers a handful of rooms at a cheap price, readily available and with no questions asked. Cash is preferred, if possible.

Creek Junction Fuel & Mart is a gas station, minimart, and makeshift truck stop. The gas station itself is open 24/7, but the mart usually closes around 2 a.m. That said, closing hours depend largely on who’s working that night, and it’s not uncommon for it to close earlier or stay open later.

Creek Junction sees most of its customers during the night, when nearly every other shop in Pike Creek is closed. It’s located right next to the Creekside Motor Inn, though the two establishments have different owners.

Greg’s is the pub/bar in the Market district that is the most common place for people to gather. It’s a great pub, it serves good food, good beer and plays good music. Sometimes they have quiz nights. They are also open on Christmas, which makes it a second home for many people in Pike Creek. Greg(ory) is respected and well-liked in the community.

You can always count on Greg’s being open and serving at almost all hours and holidays. They rarely close and they often have theme nights for Christmas, Halloween, Easter and Midsummer to make sure everyone feels welcome and never alone.

Located along Harbor Row, Port on Sixth is a staple among fishermen, though in the evenings it draws a much broader crowd. The place is rowdy and loud when it’s open, and it’s famous for two things: pies and seafood.

Port on Sixth is home to what many consider the best lamb shank pie and the best clam chowder in Pike Creek. While it isn’t open as late or as consistently as Greg’s, this is where you’ll find fishermen as early as 4 p.m., nursing a beer and eating fried fish.

Their most famous menu item is the lamb shank pie, served with mashed potatoes, peas, and Ironwood Brew. One pie typically serves four people.

This is the biggest Protestant church in Pike Creek. Like all churches, it is located in Old Town and it is led by Pastor Elias Mercer. The building itself isn’t very impressive as it is small and its pews are narrow and uncomfortable. What it lacks in stature it makes up for in history as this is one of the oldest churches in the town. The cemetery right outside the church is medium-sized and is starting to get crowded.

Catholics are the second biggest faith in Pike Creek, but their chapel would make you think it is the biggest. It is larger and more decadent than Pike Creek Community Church, and it involves the typical signatures of a catholic church. Introduced and built by the Argyris family it is a staple and point of interest in Pike Creek. It is located in Old Town like every church in Pike Creek.

Café Oasis is a small café owned and operated by Corinne. This small coffee shop is the most popular café in Pike Creek. Whether it is the pastries, the coffee or just the sweet host… Who knows? It is the most popular spot to grab a coffee, either to go or to enjoy at the cozy café. They are famous for their pastries especially and was the biggest reason that croissants has become a phenomenon in Pike Creek.

Ironwood Brewery is the only brewery in Pike Creek. Their brewery is placed in the Market district, making it available to everyone. They easily deliver all of their drinks to the bars and restaurants in Pike Creek. They are most famous for Ironwood Brew and Ironwood Cider, but also develop and sell plenty of ales, APAs, IPAs and seasonal beverages. None as popular as their default cider or beer, however. While they have a small bar, it’s opening hours are limited and it usually feels a little too pretentious and hipster for the common townsfolk.
