Important plants in Pike Creek

All plants have special qualities whether it’s medicinal, recreational or harmful. Pike Creek is home to many different plants, some common, others very rare. The plants listed on this lore page are ones that serve a specific use case in Pike Creek.

While the plants does have qualities that might help or harm supernatural creatures, the plant itself is usually too weak to have any major effect. However, brewed or distilled into an elixir, spray or incense - its effect becomes potent.


Also known as Wolfsbane, Monkshood, or Blue Rocket.

Grows in: Outskirts of the woods, meadows close to mountains.
Notes: Handle with gloves and care. Do not ingest as-is.

Aconite is a toxic plant that grows in the mountainous region on the outskirt of town, close to the Wolfe Quarry. It used to be brewed into a poison that could be applied to spears, arrows and knives to help kill wolves that roamed in the forest around Pike Creek. Today, it is mainly used in highly diluted doses in healing draughts or elixirs due to it’s anti-inflammatory, fever-reducing and sedative properties.

Supernatural Lore: Lycans in human form feel calmed in the presence of Aconite, and avoids it like fire in their wolf form. Doesn’t stop transformations, but can save you if hunted by a werewolf.


Also known as Laserwort.

Grows in: Naturally in places where many leylines converge, but can be cultivated by Gifted with the Life discipline.
Notes: Highly sought-after due to its many use cases.

Silphium is a plant thought to be extinct, but has grown in an abundance around Pike Creek since before its founding. Silphium only grows during late spring and summer, and when cultivated needs to be handled with care and can only thrive in a hot climate. It seems to be tied to the Weave since only Gifted with Life discipline is able to cultivate them properly.

Some claim Silphium wilts when harvested with greed rather than intent.

It is used in salves and elixirs that reduce anxiety, stress and worry. It’s also considered an aphrodisiac and has been used to help with lust. Some use it as a spice in food or desserts. It can also be found in specialized perfumes in certain Pike Creek shops.

Supernatural Lore: Shouldn’t exist in Pike Creek’s climate. It affects all beings in a positive way.

Notes: Commonly used everywhere in Pike Creek for furniture, amulets, runes.

Rowan wood is a powerful wood with many magical properties if handled by a Gifted. It can be found all over the forest around Pike Creek and totems, amulets or tools made of it exists in almost every home. Its main use is to protect against and ward off evil beings and curses.

Runes carved out of Rowan is used by many Gifted with the Psionic disciplines to enhance their psychic abilities.

Supernatural Lore: Rooms protected by rowan amulets or totems affect Damned and Faded in particular. Not enough to harm them, but to cause enough discomfort for them to leave.


Grows in: Primarily around Old Town in Pike Creek.
Notes: Nothing to note.

Ironwood Bark is famous for its hardness, thus it is used to strengthen a users abilities. It is used in rituals for staying power, resolve and protection. A lot of Gifted with Voodoo discipline use it to make sure their curses, healing rituals or charms finds their way to its intended target instead of backfiring. Even Faded use it for their own rituals.

Like Rowan, it is also carved into small totems or amulets, but are sold and used more sparingly as they are generally used during times of hardship and grief.

Supernatural Lore: Seems to protect fairly well against Damned when wearing the amulet or totem around the neck.

Notes: Locals only pick what is needed, never in abundance, to leave some for nature.

A popular flower in Pike Creek. Besides its typical uses in drinks and food, it is especially common during weddings in Pike Creek, often included in the bride’s bouquet and in the groom’s boutonnière. This is due to its properties of luck, cleansing of negative energy and soft healing.

Elderflower is commonly used in a lot of elixirs and salves. Salves or body butter that helps with healing the skin. It can also be concentrated into sprays or incense that are supposed to ward off negativity and cleanse spaces. Some say chocolate with elderflower will help with anxiety and opening the heart up after trauma.

Supernatural Lore: Often used in rituals that deal with blessings. Has no particular effect on supernatural beings, but Gifted seems to enjoy it in particular.
