Hollowborn are not soldiers.
Most spend their lives investigating, documenting, and surviving the supernatural rather than hunting it. Their equipment reflects this philosophy.
A Hollowborn rarely knows what awaits them.
Preparation is valued above certainty.
The goal is not to bring the perfect tool.
The goal is to survive being wrong.
The Silver Knife
Section titled “The Silver Knife”Nearly every Hollowborn carries a silver knife.
Some are plain utility blades. Others are heirlooms passed between generations. No two are exactly alike.
Traditionally used during the Rite of Hollowing, the knife often becomes one of a Hollowborn’s most valued possessions.
It is a tool.
A weapon.
A reminder.
For many, it is the closest thing they have to a badge of office.
Firearms
Section titled “Firearms”Most Hollowborn carry some form of firearm.
The weapon itself is rarely important.
The ammunition is.
Silver rounds remain the most common due to their broad usefulness against a variety of supernatural threats. Others are prepared with alchemical compounds, herbs, blessed water, or local remedies.
No universal standard exists. Most Hollowborn develop their own methods through experience, experimentation, and an alarming number of mistakes.
Restraints
Section titled “Restraints”Not every problem can be solved by killing it.
Rope, chains, cuffs, and other restraints are common among experienced Hollowborn. Some are treated with aconite, blessed water, or alchemical compounds. Others remain perfectly ordinary until needed.
A Hollowborn often values time more than victory.
Restraints provide both.
Reliable light is often considered more important than any weapon.
Flashlights are common, though some older Hollowborn still favor lanterns out of habit or tradition. Many supernatural problems become significantly easier once you can actually see them.
Medical Supplies
Section titled “Medical Supplies”Every experienced Hollowborn carries some form of medical kit.
Bandages, disinfectant, sutures, painkillers, and alchemical salves are common, though contents vary from person to person.
Hollowborn are difficult to kill, but they do not heal perfectly. Injuries linger, wounds require treatment, and scars accumulate. Most learn field medicine through experience—often painful experience.
Preparations
Section titled “Preparations”No two Hollowborn carry exactly the same equipment.
Local folklore, regional threats, available resources, and personal experience all influence what they bring. Some favor aconite. Others rely on blessed water, silver, alchemical remedies, or practical tools.
While Hollowborn often possess extensive knowledge of alchemy, they lack the innate connection required to awaken its true properties. As a result, many maintain close relationships with trusted Gifted who provide charms, remedies, salves, and other preparations.
Experience teaches that certainty is dangerous. A noise in the woods may be a Lycan, a Feral Faded, or something else entirely. The best Hollowborn are rarely the ones carrying the most weapons. They are the ones who remain adaptable when their assumptions prove wrong.
A Hollowborn may know exactly what they need.
Obtaining it is often another matter entirely.
